Before we knew it, we were asked to engage in a Q&A regarding our family construction business in balancing work and life. Chad and Liana Hilweh founded Hilweh Builders LLC in 2019.

 

Prior to starting Hilweh Builders, Chad spent 10 years of his career overseeing the development of various housing projects and remodels for a Hawaii general contractor. As a project superintendent, he gained experience in project management and managing subcontractors. He also found a passion for finished carpentry, cabinetry building, designing, and woodworking. But his favorite part of the job was developing close relationships with homeowners. Learning about a homeowner’s vision and goals for their remodel or home build inspired him to start his own business so that he could combine his entrepreneurial spirit, passion for construction and desire for helping people.

 

Liana, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), was working in public accounting for 15+ years. Most of her technical career was focused on strategic tax planning for high-net-worth individuals and businesses. She worked in a variety of industries including construction and manufacturing that allowed her to refine her understanding of estimates, job costing and work in progress (WIP). In recent years, Liana was the Managing Director for one of Hawaii’s public accounting firms where she was responsible for business operations, marketing, team management, customer satisfaction, and strategic planning.

 

When Chad and Liana met in 2018, they combined their strengths to launch Hilweh Builders – a professional and customer focused general contractor.
